Default Beat the Doppleganger EASILY in under 50 seconds. (Mo/*)

I would make this a very comprehensive guide if I could but it's actually very simple. It took me several tries to defeat the doppleganger, after being humiliated on several attempts to do so, I decided to look at it more analytically.
I noticed a couple things that he *didn't* do. One of which was casting healing breeze, and I noticed that he also hit for a LOT. So, I reconstructed my build so that I didn't even have to attack.

It's pretty simple, bring ONLY these spells:
Retribution (or the other spell that can reflect back up to 66% damage, the name eludes me)
Shield of Judgment (I used it, but it's optional)
and
Healing Breeze

Notes ---------------------------------------------------------------

Put all of the attribute points you have into smiting and healing, he hits for a lot so you need to CONSTANTLY be healing yourself.

Don't attack him, he uses retribution as far as I know which means you're subjecting yourself to your own ideas.. just run around and force him to use his bow.

SOJ is an optional spell and it *will* slow down his attack rate, while dealing him 50 dmg. So you may not want to bring it if you want bonus, I was only able to cast it once before the retribution + SOJ combo killed him, I had ABOUT 15 seconds left on the timer (not sure of the exact time).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps people!

I wonder how you can have SoJ without having defeated the doppleganger...Oh! you ran? Well, what's the point of the game then? ( unless you finished the game before, and if you have done that, you wouldn't post the build, that is recommended almost everywhere )

yeah, I had this character ran to droks because there were some spells I wanted that were either sold in or around that area. SOJ in particular, note that I wasn't at droks like way ahead of time or anything I was level 20 when I got there but I was really trying to make myself a 55 monk so I needed soj.

and this build is recommended almost everywhere? I'm confused, but ok.
Sorry to aggravate you by trying to help others, I'll make sure not to do it anymore.

help how?

IMO it helps them by making the doppleganger a trivial task (which a lot of people seem to have trouble with)

Just because you got a run somewhere doesn't always mean you don't know how to play that class - personally I've completed the game(both of them) many times and if I re-roll a char the last thing I want to do is to have to complete everything in the correct order again.

In defence of the original OP, a lot of people do actually have trouble with the doppleganger and so taking the time to type up a quick little guide to show others how he/she did it IS of help.

I liked my build better, but it works with Mo/Me

Shatter Enchantment
Backfire
Orison
Reversal of Fortune
Vigerous Spirit
Healing Breeze

12 Domination

and keep all of your other attribute points unspent

Frist, cast backfire.
watch him kill himself
if you must, finish him off with Shatter Enchantment

Dont even heal at all, the onyl two skill you will actually use is Backfire and Shatter Enchantment

Dead in about.. 15 seconds =D

I did exactly the same thing I must confess - backfire ftw :P Probably the quickest doppleganger fight I had out of all my characters

If you are going for a pure monk build i think this is your best bet (my best time was about 20 seconds)

Attributes:
Smiting: 12 + 1 + 3
Healing: 0
Divine Favour: 0

Other Stuff:
Extra health is nice, as is extra energy and enchant time, but u can do it without

Skills:
Retribution
Shield of Judgement (optional, i agree with the point earlier about u shouldnt be able to have this at this point in the game, but this was the 3rd tyrian char ive played so gimme a break k)
Orison of Healing
Healing Breeze (optional in case u find u die)
(heres the major damage dealer, better than soj)
Scourge Healing

Tactics:
Pretty standard, cast retribution before u open up the mesa make sure ur energy is back to full etc..
as soon as the timer starts doppel will cast retribution, in this time cast scourge healing on him, followed by SoJ (if you have)
now u sit back and watch the death with your doppel taking a combined 70+ damage every time he hits you
whenever doppel trys to heal himself with orison of healing he will trigger scourge again taking 84 damage, in short, dead doppel

Variations:
for even more speed with a Mo\W take balanced stance to prevent knockdown slowup
Mo/E ward of stability, same deal
im sure there are more anti knockdowns but i cant think of any right now
